“Hearts Prepared for the Salvation of God” (Luke 3:3-6)

Pastor Dale Jaech, December 9, 2018
Part of the 2018-2019 ILCW-C Advent to Epiphany series, preached at a Sunday Divine service

Heavenly Father, according to Your promises of old, You sent John the Baptist to prepare the hearts of Your people for the coming of Your kingdom. We pray that You would continually send us Your Holy Spirit to work in us the fruits of repentance that we, too, have received by baptism; keep us ever contrite over sin and firmly believing Your forgiveness in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Luke 3:3-6

3And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; 4As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 5Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; 6And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. (KJV)
